Spring is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. With warmer temperatures and longer days, there’s no shortage of fun and exciting outdoor activities to try. Here are some recommendations for outdoor activities to try this spring, specifically in the Southern Finger Lakes Region of New York (where I live 😉).
Hiking: The Southern Finger Lakes Region is home to some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the state. From the gorge trails at Watkins Glen State Park to the stunning views at the Finger Lakes National Forest, there’s something for hikers of all skill levels.
Biking: Whether you prefer mountain biking or road biking, the Southern Finger Lakes Region has plenty of options for cyclists. The Keuka Outlet Trail and Catharine Valley Trail are both popular destinations for bikers looking to explore the area’s natural beauty.
Water activities: With the Finger Lakes right in the region’s backyard, there are plenty of opportunities for water-based activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, and boating. Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake are both popular destinations for these types of activities.
Bird watching: Spring is a great time to go bird watching, and the Southern Finger Lakes Region is home to a diverse array of bird species. Check out the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge or the Cornell Lab of Ornithology for some great bird-watching opportunities.
No matter what outdoor activities you choose to try, the Southern Finger Lakes Region has something for everyone. So why not get outside and enjoy all that this beautiful region has to offer this spring?
